Some milestones are really big to celebrate.

There are some big milestones in our kids’ lives. Their first day of school, their first lost tooth, their first sports team. But what about the big milestones in their spiritual journey? Every faith tradition has significant milestones in it, but I am most familiar with the Christian, specifically Catholic, ones. Your child’s First Holy Communion is the first time they are receiving Jesus in the Eucharist. This is a big deal and deserves to be celebrated. Having professional photographer on site who brings expertise, experience, and an artistic eye ensures each moment can be remembered forever.

Don't worry about the light.

I will use my understanding of natural and artificial light to create beautiful, posed images to celebrate your child. It’s not often that your 8-year-old son wears a suit, so let’s take a moment the day of to take a few photos. I’m a school photographer as well and I am used to working with kids of all ages and having their personalities shine through in a few moments. I’ll be present on site the day of First Communion to take a few portraits and even a family photo.

Churches are some of the most beautiful spaces on earth and some of the most horribly lit places on earth, too. And most churches do not allow flash photography during Mass nor do they want every parent standing up to take a picture with their phone. I know my camera and its settings so well and can provide beautiful images of the special moment of your child’s First Communion.

Be present in this moment.

This allows you to be fully present in the moment and to pray for your child. My oldest son made his First Communion this past spring and even the brief seconds of me taking photos of him did take me out of what a special moment it was. I am so grateful that I have the photos to remind me of his innocence and his faith in that moment, though. I just wish I had heeded my own advice and had someone else come to take these photos!

I value, respect and believe in what is happening.

I have been Catholic my entire life and very involved in the Church for the past 15 years. I have a deep reverence for the Eucharist and the Mass. I do my absolute best to be as discrete as possible while still providing beautiful images of moments during the Mass.

Remind your child that this was a special moment, but just the beginning.

These photos will provide a lasting legacy for your family. You can create albums to tell the story of this monumental moment in their Spiritual journey, print thank you cards for their well-wishers or send digital copies to family and friends who could not make the trip to celebrate with you.
